From next January 1st 2021 RBI has directed banks to adopt a new cheque payment system regarding payment of 50,000 rupees. This new system is termed as positive pay system which will require a customer to submit check details amounts pay details etc to the bank. On confirming this details only then banks will disburse or clear the amount mentioned in the cheque. Banks are free to introduce such measures even for lower amount of cheques availing this facility would be discretion of the account holders. However banks can make it mandatory for ₹ five lac above. A customer can confirm these details or submit these details electronically through SMS, mobile app, Internet banking or ATM.
